| Subject: Petition Set Up to Reinstate Xbox One Family Sharing Options Thu Jul 11, 2013 8:17 am | |
| An upset Xbox fan has set up a petition asking for Microsoft to reinstate the Xbox One’s sharing options.
When Microsoft announced its decision to dump the console’s proposed DRM measures recently, it also canned plans to allow games to be shared between “families” of gamers.
But David Fontenot wants it back.
“This was to be the future of entertainment; A new wave of gaming where you could buy games digitally, then trade, share or sell those digital licenses,” wrote Fontenot on the Change.org petition.
“Essentially, it was Steam for Xbox. But consumers were uninformed, and railed against it, and it was taken away because Sony took advantage of consumer uncertainty. We want this back. It can’t be all or nothing, there must be a compromise.”
At the time of writing the petition had around 500 signatures, as well as a number of comments. One of those comments was from a user claiming to be Major Nelson, saying that he is forwarding all complaints to “those higher up the ladder.”
He added, amusingly, “Kudos to all for being true 'agents of change.' In the darkness a single candle flame can provide the illumination needed to find the path to truth. I am humbled to be surrounded by so many paths of guiding light here.”
