Sony has the early sales lead over Microsoft in the PlayStation 4 vs. Xbox One "console war," but it's not over yet. New Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has pledged that Microsoft plans to "win" this console generation, making clear that the company needs to do more to come out on top.

"Definitely in to win," Spencer told a fan on Twitter. "We need to do more, that's 100% of my focus." As Head of Xbox, Spencer--who has already worked at Microsoft for over a quarter century--oversees Xbox and Xbox Live, as well as creative teams at Microsoft Studios.

So far, the Xbox One has been unable to match the sales of the PS4, which has sold-through more than 7 million systems to date. For its part, Microsoft announced just last week that it had shipped (not sold) more than 5 million Xbox Ones. It's unknown how many of those were sold. Microsoft's next earnings report is scheduled for later this week.

Spencer maintains that appealing to the core gamer is critical to the Xbox One's success, and he's previously teased that Microsoft has big plans for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June. He added to that recently, saying on Twitter that Microsoft is "bringing more than hype, bringing games" to E3.

I've said it before but this E3 will be amazing for Xbox gamers, we are going too see so many awesome games!

I hope so as there seems to be a serious lack of exclusives on the PS4.

Microsoft need to stop putting their exclusives on PC and 360 too, as they aren't giving gamers enough reason to upgrade.

This is one of the weirdest new age consoles I've ever seen! When was the last time we ever had a new console come out and yet they are still making big titles for the previous generation, I mean South Park isn't even next gen!! Titanfall should have been a next gen only! Such a strange transition in to a new generation!

Totally agree. Infact pretty much everything MS has done leading into this Next Gen has been strange. I think Phil can see that and will hopefully get things on track.

Let's hope, I just feel like this generation was rushed out!!

Still think we'll get a gears remake annoucement or something this year because Gears4 is still few years off.

Releasing Titanfall on 360 was just a cash grab, plain and simple.....having said that, I'm glad they did, otherwise I wouldn't be playing it!!!! Laughing

I think they found the right man to lead Xbox

I'm really hoping they can improve on what they've done so far with the Xbox One. If they are going to make Xbox One the leader it should be I think Phil Spencer is the guy that can get the job done.
