Zombieland Pilot Casts Two Leads
A few weeks ago, Amazon announced that they would be getting into the original series game with a series adaptation of Ruben Fleischer’s Zombieland. Now the series has found its leads, with indie actor Tyler Ross and up-and-comer Izabela Vidovic set to make up two of the four main characters.
According to Deadline.com, Tyler Ross, who saw success a few weeks ago at the Sundance Film Festival with the indie movie Milkshake, will play the nerdy protagonist Columbus in the Zombieland TV series. Jesse Eisenberg originally played the role in the film. Izabela Vidovic (Raising Hope) was cast in the role of the precocious tween girl Little Rock, who was played by Abigail Breslin in the movie counterpart. The Sony-produced TV series just needs to cast the roles of Tallahassee and Wichita (played by Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone in the film, respectively) to complete the unlikely family unit.
A few weeks ago, script pages from the upcoming zombie series leaked onto the Internet, which confirmed rumors that the original Zombieland writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, were developing the project for network TV. It was later revealed that the show would not be aired on traditional network TV, but rather online through the subscription-based Amazon Prime video streaming service.
The TV series will pick up where the movie left off, following the heroes’ continuing adventures of survival in a post-apocalyptic, zombie-filled world. Perhaps Tallahassee can finally find that abandoned Twinkie factory. Well, considering Hostess doesn’t exist anymore, probably not. There’s always Little Debbie’s Cloud Cakes.
