Something That's Grinding My Gears

Everywhere I go online I hear the same thing, about every shooter that is released...

"It's trying to be the new COD"

Now ok I can understand Battlefield or MOH getting this tag, but GEARS & HALO???

Seriously how are Gears or Halo trying to be anything like COD? One is a third person shooter therefore a completely different genre, and the other is set in space shooting aliens, with all kinds of vehicles, shields etc.

Why are people so thick?

becasue people believe that COD is the be-all-and-end-all of the shooter games and anything remotly similar is 'copying' it.

I'd love for one of those people to play the original COD, then play MW2, there so many differences is unreal

I still feel that Gears should have stuck to what they originally had, it worked for them.

Also Omen If every game stuck to what they originally had no game would evolve at all. As BigStu said, go play Call Of Duty 1 and then go play MW3 or BO2, and tell me that are the same or stuck to what worked for them??!!

Also Gears is EVOLVING, not going backwards, all the steps they have made so far are improving the game, Name me something that they have done which has took the game back a step and give me a decent reason for your view?! I don't think you will be able too mate.

Gears is evolving to the new generation but....it is going backwards since its a prequel! lol >.< sorry i had to but all joking aside, they are evolving and trying to help its sister corp. People can Fly, since they helped with Bulletstorm, so they stepped up and helped out Epic with this new generation Gears, looking forward to it. good chance to hopefully they add something for a bulletstorm 2 easteregg.

I have palyed all the Call of Dutys, and yes they are completely different, but we are talking about Gears not CoD, Im talking about all the gameplay features. I don't want a quick throw grenade option, and i definatly don't want to not be able to place my grenades on walls anymore. And now frags are always sticky, if you hit someone with it when you throw it it just sticks, what if im trying to get a group of people and it sticks to one of them and he runs off? I say thats a few bad things right there and im just talking about grenades. lol

Dude that not a few bad things, that one bad thing, in your eyes. And actually we are talking about cod and gears, read the original post. Publiks point is people comparing gears to cod.

One button frag is a brilliant step, rather then having to put your main weapon away just to carry a grenade around, which makes no sense in combat. Also you are able to stick them to walls still.

also if your main problem about gears is the grenade then you need to stop and have a look at the game as a whole and you'll realise how much of a massive step forward this game is taking.

What also annoys me is that if they did keep everything the same, EPIC would get slatted by fans and reviewers for not making progress.

You just can't win.

Either way, I've never been a huge fan of Gears anyway lol. I liked it because it was so different and challenging, I feel like tgey are dumbing everything down
